LSYO Audition Information
LSYO Auditions for the 2022-2023 season will be held August 27, 2022
This season, the LSYO has openings for all instruments. Please contact the LSYO Coordinator to register and sign up for an audition.
General Information:
LSYO has two ensembles: String Orchestra and Symphonic Orchestra. All auditioning strings musicians will be considered for both ensembles. Winds, brass, and percussion musicians will be considered for the Symphonic Orchestra.
Musicians must bring two printed copies of their excerpts to the audition.
If a musician cannot attend the in-person auditions on August 27, please contact the LSYO Coordinator to schedule a make-up audition.

Audition Requirements for Strings and Piano:

Scale of student choice (two octaves required for Strings Orchestra, three octaves required for Symphonic Orchestra)

30-60 seconds of an etude or orchestral excerpt that showcases the student’s current technical abilities

30-60 seconds of a concerto or solo work that showcases the student’s current musical abilities
Audition Requirements for Winds:
- Chromatic scale
- 30-60 seconds of an etude or orchestral excerpt that showcases the student’s current technical abilities
